The mission of the Research and Industrial Relations Center (KKIC) is to strengthen research, development and innovation (RDI) collaborations and university–industry partnerships at the Faculty of Science of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) by building on the internationally recognised expertise of the Faculty’s researchers, its advanced instrumentation and research facilities, and its multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary cooperation potential. The Centre also supports the continuous development of the skills required for such collaborations across the Faculty by:
Operating research infrastructure of international standard, providing external partners with access to advanced instrumentation and complex experimental services.
Supporting industrial and scientific innovation by offering simplified and flexible cooperation solutions for companies, research groups and start-ups.
Building institutional partnerships that integrate education, research and industrial needs in a holistic manner, thereby contributing to enhanced competitiveness and to the development of the science–business ecosystem.
The four strategic pillars of KKIC’s activities
I. Research excellence and infrastructure integration
Coordinated operation and increased visibility of the internationally recognised capacities of the Faculty’s researchers and its advanced instrumentation.
KKIC aims to strategically align research competencies, professional strengths and infrastructure; to ensure transparent and efficient utilisation of capacities; and to present these assets in a market-ready and partner-oriented manner.
II. Development of university–industry RDI partnerships
Establishing sustainable, long-term research, development and innovation collaborations with domestic and international partners.
KKIC supports partner identification, project design and launch, the development of contractual frameworks, and the coordination of complex RDI projects—thereby promoting the economic and societal utilisation of scientific results.
III. Encouraging multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaboration
To address complex industrial and societal challenges, KKIC facilitates collaboration across the Faculty’s scientific fields.
The goal is to create cross-disciplinary research projects, thematic collaborations and integrated professional solutions that increase the Faculty’s innovation potential and competitiveness.
IV. Competence development and strengthening the innovation ecosystem
Developing the skills, organisational knowledge and entrepreneurial capabilities needed for industrial cooperation and innovation activities within the Faculty.
KKIC supports competence development for researchers and staff—especially in innovation management, project leadership, industrial collaboration, technology transfer and corporate relations—and facilitates the establishment and growth of Faculty-affiliated start-up and spin-off companies.
The overall aim is to encourage the market utilisation of research results, strengthen the mindset and skills necessary for launching new ventures, and build a sustainable, innovation-oriented Faculty ecosystem.
