Honoratior Status 2024/25/2
The Honoratior Committee of Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Science invites applications for obtaining honoratior status for the Spring Semester of the 2024/25 academic year.


The purpose of the application:

to nurture the talent of students with outstanding academic performance at the Faculty within an organized framework.
 
Anyone with a student status at the University may apply for the honoratior status, who

  •  has completed at least two semesters of the Bachelor’s programme or the single cycle programme;
  •  is enrolled in a Master’s programme;
  •  has an academic record and academic achievements that make them a worthy candidate.

Minimal requirements of applying:

  •  a credit-weighted grade average of at least 4.51 in both of the last two active semesters;
  •  having obtained 55 credits in the last two active semesters.

 
The deadline for submitting the application:

10 February 2025. The application shall be submitted in the form of an electronic request until the given deadline. The applicant shall attach all the necessary documents to their application, along with the necessary verification documents for the assessment of the application.

Incomplete applications cannot be modified.
 
The student’s application must include:

  •  their curriculum vitae;
  •  their scientific achievements;
  • a certificate of their academic results from the previous completed semesters;
  • an individual work plan (length: 2000-4000 characters) that includes the student’s intended goal with the honoratior status as well as the planned tasks for achieving that goal;
  • a list of the courses the student intends to complete within the first semester of their honoratior status;
  • the approval of the heads of the educational units (departments, centres) responsible for the courses as well as the recommendation of the instructor responsible for the student’s degree programme;
  • a recommendation letter from an instructor.

 
The Honoratior Committee accepts exclusively the following documents as certificates of prior achievements during the evaluation of the application:

  •  Conference of Scientific Students’ Associations (TDK) or National Conference of Scientific Students’ Associations (OTDK): award or certificate;
  •  achievement in international, prestigious national, university, faculty or professional competitions during one’s university studies: certificate or certification from the organizer;
  •  publications, published article(s) in an international or national journal deemed professionally recognized by the field or the Honoratior Committee: the first page of the article (if electronic, from title to abstract or first paragraph) and the link to the full publication;
  •  (poster) presentation at an international or national conference deemed professionally recognized by the field or the Honoratior Committee: certificate of attendance, the relevant part of the conference agenda, and the link to the conference;
  •  participation in research: a short, maximum one-page summary from the research leader about the research objective, the results so far (if any), as well as the role of the applicant and their proportion of participation.

 
The results of the application:

Following the evaluation, the applicant will be notified in a personal Neptun message.

Other information:

As stated in Section 27/E paragraph (3) of the Academic Regulations for Students, courses completed within the framework of the honoratior status cannot be accepted as electives.
As stated in Section 55 paragraph (5) of the Academic Regulations for Students, courses completed within the framework of the honoratior status do not factor into the credit over-registration.
