Main research areas
Crinophagy (secretory granule-lysosome fusion)
The unnecessary or obsolete secretory vesicles remain in the cytoplasm and directly fuse with late endosomes or lysosomes for the fast breakdown and recycling of the secretory cargo. This process was discovered in 1966 and is called crinophagy. We will identify the necessary molecular factors, which are required for secretory granule-lysosome fusion by the examination of Drosophila late larval salivary gland cells.
