Main research areas
Within these research areas, my research focuses on sub-areas that attempt to estimate the temperature, oxygenation and carbonate chemistry (pH, carbonate saturation) of the past seawater using stable isotope and trace element geochemical tools. Additionally, It also focuses on the study of continental weathering and changes in the global carbon cycle. All of these are used to study environmental and climatic changes during short term global warming events in Earth's history, so-called hyperthermal events, and provide opportunities to better understand the Earth as a biogeochemical system. Furthermore, data from the investigation of such events in Earth's history can provide useful insights into the behaviour of the Earth system during modern climate and environmental change.
