Main research areas
The impact of the weather on honey production
The main objective of the research topic is to investigate and model the relationship between weather and beekeeping using various statistical methods. The analysis is primarily based on hive weight measurements, with different time periods distinguished. These measurements would be supplemented with plant phenological observations to determine the exact onset of flowering and nectar production of economically important plants for beekeeping, such as black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) and sunflower, under different weather conditions. The task is to develop a short-term, statistical-based beekeeping forecasting model as a function of meteorological variables, which would be implemented using a high-resolution meteorological model.
