research field
My research focuses on protein structure research, in particular the spectroscopic analysis of protein aggregates and globular proteins and the development of bioinformatics tools for this purpose. Atomic-resolution structural methods such as X-ray crystallography or NMR are not always applicable (protein aggregates, large proteins, disordered proteins) and are usually time- and material-intensive and expensive. Circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy is a fast and inexpensive method to study the secondary structure of proteins. In my work, I develop data analysis algorithms that can be used to characterize the secondary and tertiary structure of proteins with high accuracy from CD spectra.
