My research focuses on the origin of sedimetary rock successions, with a special empasis on deepwater turbiditic and lacustrine sediments. My goal is study the facies and composition of sedimentary rocks, and better understand the environemntal conditions of sedimentation, the sedimentary processes, the tectonic and climatic influences involved, as well as their provenance. Combined, this knowledge can be utilized in paleoegeographic and climatic reconstructions, and also in industrial applications including geothermal energy, hidrology, and hydrocarbons.
