Main research areas
Bioinformatic analysis of disordered proteins
My research focuses on disordered proteins, in particular the development of prediction methods for disordered proteins. Disordered proteins play a critical role in virtually all cellular processes such as regulation, transcription or apoptosis. Because of their important role, their mutations often play a role in the development of diseases such as cancer. Their investigation by experimental methods is difficult and costly, and there is a great need for rapid and accurate informatics methods to identify disordered regions and their functions directly from the sequence.
