Global enviromental change and mass extinction events in deep time

My research focuses on the processes, causes and consequences of rapid global climate and environmental change events and concomitant biotic responses, commonly mass extinctions and marine faunal turnovers, in the Mesozoic and the Paleogene. Working with research students and associates, I apply a wide range of research methods, including field work, specimen-based paleontology, analytical paleobiology, geochemistry, geochronology, and integrated stratigraphy. Key target intervals are the Triassic-Jurassic transition, the Early Jurassic (Toarcian) hyperthermal, Cretaceous anoxic events, and the Eocene-Oligocene climate transition.
