Geomorphology and GIS
Examination of landforms using GIS systems and databases with special emphasis on digital terrain models. Within this area I primarily focus on the analysis of karst, glacial, fluvial and aeolian landforms.
Human-environment relations in protected areas
The examination of human-environment relations of protected areas using statistical methods, remote sensing, demographic parameters, field methods, interviews and questionnaire survey. The aim is to clarify how much the life conditions of local people are influenced by natural settings; how effective are the protected areas in conserving nature, etc.
