Main research areas
Study of protein aggregation processes and related diseases
My research projects focus on studying misfolding and associated aggregation of proteins, the factors affecting these processes, and related pathological mechanisms. In my work, I mainly use recombinant gene technology, chromatography and spectroscopic methods (photometry, fluorimetry, CD-spectroscopy). My main goals include the most accurate detection of the aggregation mechanisms of misfolded proteins and peptides, the investigation of inhibitory molecules and mechanisms, and the identification of factors causing cytotoxicity. Our research leads to a better understanding of protein aggregation-related diseases (e.g. Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, type II diabetes).
